View 4: Structure
As mentioned before, Parfleche bags came in a variety of structures. This particular shape was likely used to carry food or papers of some kind. This particular shape was also perfect to carry on the sides of the horse due to its flat and comfortable structure.
The structure of the bag means a lot, because ever since the beginning of the plains horse culture, horses were much more common to come by in many areas. Horses were used for trade, since horses were in high demand at the time, as well as used FOR trading other goods. This gives a whole new meaning as to why Parfleche bags were used.
