View Three: Imagery

A general overview of the Cree people’s culture was like many other indigenous groups with their culture being connected to nature and a strong emphasis on being connected to animals. This gun case has beaded imagery depicting what is presumably depicting someone from the Cree nation in their everyday life and it's a representation of their lifeways interacting with nature, showing trees, birds, flowers, and possible leaves and even what looks like a tent, or fire. These images are created from different colored beads. These beads were introduced to Native Americans in the 16th century and quickly gained popularity among Indigenous groups and their garments, items, and accessories. This amount of time and fine details show just how interesting and dedicated these indigenous groups were to creating these items. It also gives us insight into the person who created this case.
