Women's Saddle of the Nez Perce Nation
This is a saddle of the Nez Perce Tribe, a traditionally nomadic tribe who were the owners of land that included the area in the four adjacent corners of Oregon, Washington, Montana, and Idaho. What makes this saddle interesting is the fact that this is traditionally a women’s saddle, signifying that it is a fairly unique piece in its own right in saddle-making. There are many intricacies that went into the making of the saddle which is apparent in both the incredible detail of the pieces that make the saddle, as well as the painting of the hide that went into it as well.
