Page Three: Feathers

Feathers were associated with power and freedom. This was also a literal representation of birds which associated with the ritual of hunting that the skirt was intended for. The meaning that these feathers had was also of bravery similar to the idea of hoping for a great hunting season, being able to hope for bravery since there was many times when hunters had to interact with violent animals. Spiritually, feathers were a method of connection of human beings to nature and created that connection in order to understand that their hunting is religious and asking for permission with these dances to encourage a successful hunting season for the tribe.
