View Two: Seed/Beadwork
Seed beads are a huge addition to many Native American tribes and they are used to increase the value of their items. Beads were used for trade and they added luxury to their clothes. The beads used in this skirt included the color red which was associated with success and power. This resilience in their artwork added to the idea of how important religion was to the Wichi people and their interest in making everything significant to their desires and what they hoped to obtain from the ceremonies. This beadwork increased its value once the settlers arrived as they used beads for luxury and to represent power and status, this meant that clothes items like these were worthy to be traded amongst the Native and Settlers.
